Ernie Shapiro

Ernie Shapiro returns for his seventh year as Head Coach of the Rosemont College Men's Lacrosse Team in 2025.This is his seventh year at Rosemont.  The team is excited to be a part of the United East Conference. Our 2025 Captains are Varro Blakes, Nate Edwards, Pat O’Donnell and Greg Wever. 


Shapiro in 2019 was promoted from Offensive Coordinator and Face off Coach at Rosemont College to Head Coach. Prior to that he was the Offensive Coordinator and Face-off Coach at Immaculata University. While there he coached three offensive players that earned All-Colonial States Athletic Conference honors, and two earned CSAC All-Academic Team. In 2013 he returned to his high school alma mater, Lower Merion HS.  As the Head Coach for three years, his teams played in the PIAA State Tournament twice. Ten of his players went on to play collegiate lacrosse. Numerous players won league, district, and state awards and two were All-American. 
 
Shapiro brings a wealth of experience to the sidelines with over 25 years of lacrosse coaching experience. In 2017 he served as the assistant coach at Immaculata University. He mentored 3 players to the 2nd Team All-CSAC and an additional player the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Award.  He was the Head Coach at Lower Merion High School from 2014 to 2016, two players were named All-American and one was the 2014 US Lacrosse Bob Scott Award winner. In 2015 he was the head coach of Team Israel, guiding them to a 15-14 win against Team Hungary. 

He also served as the head coach of Radnor Middle School for two years (2008-09),and was an assistant coach at Friends Central High School (1998). 

On the club level, he coached with LB3 Lacrosse Club as a volunteer assistant of the Rising Junior High School Elite Team and at PennStar U-15 All Stars as an assistant coach. 

Shapiro spent eight years (2005-12) at Radnor Youth Lacrosse as a head coach, and four years (2000-04) with the Ashbee Lacrosse Club as a head coach.
