GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – It was an early fireworks show in today's men's soccer game between Rosemont and Gwynedd Mercy, with all three goals in the game being scored in the first 26:05. It was the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins who got two of the three goals as the Ravens lost the game by a 2-1 finals score. With the result the Raven's overall record now stands at 5-9 (4-2 CSAC). Gwynedd Mercy improved to 4-10 (3-3 CSAC).
It took only 1:21 for Gwynedd's Eric Smith to kick a goal off a through ball from Rich Mychack to give the home Griffins the 1-0 lead. Roughly 16 minutes later the Griffins made it 2-0 as Ryan Roedel scored off a cross in the box to make the score 2-0.
The Raven's Javier Alvarado beat the keeper to dribble home a goal in the 27th minute to pull Rosemont to within 2-1, but neither team would put a dent in the scoreboard over the remaining 63 minutes as the Griffins took the decision and the three points.
Next up for Rosemont will be their final regular-season road game when they take a short trip to face the Neumann Knights on Wednesday, 10/22 for a CSAC contest. Game time is scheduled for 4:00pm.
