Immaculata, Pa. – In today's men's lacrosse game, the Rosemont Ravens (3-8, 2-2 CSAC) and the host Immaculata Mighty Macs (3-8, 2-2 CSAC) played a game that featured two evenly-matched teams that was decided early in the fourth quarter as Immaculata claimed an important 14-12 conference win over the Ravens.
It wasn't until the final minute of the first half when one team claimed at least a two goal lead over the other. Until the 0:48 mark, the game featured four ties and four lead changes, when Immaculata's Tyler Black scored to put the Mighty Macs in front 6-4. The Ravens responded with two goals in the final minute of the half as Dean Grisoff would score just 11 seconds later, and Justin Regan would knot the game at 6-6 with 0:04 on the clock with the Ravens holding a man-up advantage.
An Anthony Bottoms goal would put Rosemont in front 7-6 with 11:43 on the clock in the 3rd, but the Mighty Macs would again tie the score 50 seconds later. Rosemont would stick their beaks back in front, 8-7, with 10:09 left in the quarter on a Bobby Fritz goal, but Immaculata would come up big for the remainder of the quarter, scoring the final five straight goals to take the largest lead of the game, 12-8, going into the final quarter.
Head Coach Brian Zusi must have lit a fire under his Ravens, as they came out to quickly score the first four goals of the quarter, within a span of 3:07, to tie the score 12-12, the seventh tied score of the game. Unfortunately for the Ravens, they were unable to keep up that momentum. Immaculata scored a go-ahead goal with 8:11 left on the clock, and scored the final goal with 5:51 remaining in the game.
Rasool Smith scored four times to lead the Ravens. Bobby Fritz added three goals, while Dean Grisoff had two scores for Rosemont.
Immaculata's Brendan Doyle had four goals and three assists and Doug Hughes had four goals and two assists to lead the Mighty Macs in scoring this afternoon.
The Ravens will return home for their next game as they will host the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday, 4/15 at 7:00pm at the Ravens Athletic Complex.
