Game Recap: Softball |

Versage Homers in Raven's Losses to Falcons

Rosemont, Pa. – Senior Jess Versage launched a homer over the left field fence in the second game of today's CSAC doubleheader against the Cedar Crest Falcons today, but that was all the offense that the Ravens could muster in the nightcap, losing 2-1 in the second game. The Ravens could manage one run scored in the opener also, dropping the first game to Cedar Crest, 5-1. With today's results, Rosemont's record fell to 2-18 (2-10 CSAC) while Cedar Crest improved to 6-9 (5-2 CSAC).

Game 1 – Cedar Crest 5, Rosemont 1

Cedar Crest led off the game with a two-spot in the top of the first inning. It looked like it would be an offensive battle when the Ravens responded with a run in the bottom of the frame after Dani Lelie singled to right to score Alyssa Foronda to make the score 2-1. From that point, though, Cedar Crest pitcher April Daly kept the Ravens in check for the rest of the game. The Falcons added another run in the third and tacked on two more in the fifth to end the scoring.

Rosemont got hits from Foronda, Lelie, Giannna Pedone, and Maggie Miller. Nikki Maurer gave up four earned runs and struck out two while walking only one in taking the loss.

Game 2 – Cedar Crest 2, Rosemont 1

The pitchers for both teams were both dealing in the nightcap of today's doubleheader. Maggie Miller went the distance, striking out five and walking four while giving up four Falcon hits. The two runs given up by the Ravens were both unearned. On the other side of the ledger, Cedar Crest's Amanda Kustanbauter struck out one, walked a couple and gave up one earned run off of a Jess Versage home run, to take the win.

The game was scoreless until the top of the third, when Cedar Crest scored a run after a Rosemont error to take a 1-0 lead. The game remained 1-0 until Cedar Crest struck again in their half of the 5th inning to make the score 2-1. In the bottom of the 5th, Versage rocketed a ball over the left field fence to account for the lone Ravens run. Versage's homer was the first for the Ravens this season, and the first career home run for the Rosemont catcher.

The Ravens will prepare for their next doubleheader. They'll host the Keytsone Giants on Tuesday, 4/14, with the first pitch scheduled for 4:30pm.
