Ravens Lose Twin-Bill at Cedar Crest

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (Cynthia L. Balaschak) – The Rosemont softball team faced a pair of tough Cedar Crest pitchers this afternoon which led to their losing both ends of the doubleheader by scores of 8-0 in Game 1, and 9-1 in Game 2. With the results, Cedar Crest is now 21-10 overall (12-6 CSAC). Rosemont fell to 4-15 overall (2-14 CSAC).

The Falcons' Laura Rau dominated in the circle in the opening game today, shutting out the Ravens over five innings. At the plate, Cedar Crest put three runs up in the first and third innings, and ended the game with a two-spot in the fifth to claim the 8-0 win.

Rosemont's Charli Fillmore batted 2-for-2 in the game, including a double, with Lora Zubrzycki getting the other hit for the Ravens.

Autumn Sharkey took the loss for Rosemont, ceding six earned runs, and issued no walks.

In the second game the Ravens scored first on a Kaileigh Whalen home run, her fourth of the season,  in the top of the 2nd inning. The lead was short lived, however, as Cedar Crest responded with an eight-run bottom of the 2nd to take an 8-1 lead. The Falcons added another run in the 3rd inning to account for the final score.

Cedar Crest's Kendra Pekurny pitched four innings, striking out one and not issuing a walk to earn the win. Charli Fillmore pitched four innings, struck out two and walked none.

The Ravens return to their home at the Ravens Athletic Complex for a CSAC doubleheader on Tuesday when they will host the Clarks Summit University Defenders. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00pm.
