Ravens post shutout in final home game

Josh Dawicki and Sal Turelli each scored goals while Grant Gonzalez added his second shutout of the season as Rosemont's men's soccer team snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over Clarks Summit Tuesday night in a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest at the Ravens Athletic Complex.

The Ravens (4-13, 2-4 CSAC) controlled most of the tempo through the night, pushing the play in the second half and never allowing the Defenders (5-6-1 overall, 1-4-1 CSAC) to have serious scoring opportunities. Gonzalez- who has been solid in net this season with a 2.22 Goals Against Average- made a few big saves on the opportunities that Clarks Summit had in the first half.

Rosemont's first goal was a beauty for Dawicki, who caught a deflected pass and fired a high sidekick that caught the upper left corner of the net at the 22nd mark for his third goal of the season.

The insurance goal came from Turelli- the senior and three year player who was playing his final home game on Tuesday night. Turelli took a free kick and sent it just inside the left post after it ticked a Clarks Summit defender in front. It was the senior's third goal of the season. He leads the Ravens with nine points on the year as well.

Rosemont  finished the conference portion of the schedule in fifth place, just one point behind Wilson for the fourth and final playoff spot in the CSAC Tournament that will begin on Saturday. The Ravens will finish its season with a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at former CSAC rival Gwynedd-Mercy. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
