Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse | | Kevin Cooney

Good effort falls just short as Ravens fall to Purchase College

There have been times this season where the score has been lopsided and the improvement has been hard to pick up inside of a box score.
However, Rosemont's men's lacrosse team- one that doesn't have a senior on the entire roster- may be starting to get things together just as the season is starting to fade into the books.
The Ravens again put up a good effort on Tuesday night in a rescheduled non-conference contest at Purchase (N.Y.) State University. It wasn't enough to keep from falling by a 13-11 margin to the Panthers at Purchase Stadium, but there were more bright spots that Dave Baker and staff could look towards the future and the final four games of the season with.
The facts are buried beyond the final score. The Ravens committed less turnovers than their opponent on Tuesday night- the first time all year that has happened. The shots on goal margin - Purchase had 28 on the night, Rosemont had 22 - was the narrowest it had been in the entire year. The Ravens were two of three on the extra man advantage and split ground balls by a 21-21 edge.
There were also tremendous individual efforts from Brandon Krausse, who scored three more goals on the night to continue his hot streak. Malik Slye and Dylan Hummel added two goals each for the Ravens.
Rosemont took a 5-3 lead thanks to five unanswered goals to close out the first quarter. But they couldn't keep that traction going as the Panthers would tally six out of the next seven goals to take a 9-6 lead at the half.
The teams traded goals with Hummel scoring early in the fourth to bring Rosemont back within 12-10. But James Felix's goal with nine minutes left proved to be a deflating tally to give Purchase back a three-goal cushion. Krausse would score again on the man advantage with under a minute left to draw closer, but the game was pretty much secured at that point.
