ROSEMONT, Pa. - There was a stretch a few weeks back where things appeared to be turning in a positive direction for Rosemont's softball team.
They had won six in a row - the longest stretch in school history- and appeared ready to head into the Colonial States Athletic Conference schedule with some much needed confidence.
A few snowy days and a whole lot of quality opponents have put that good feeling on ice.
Gwynedd-Mercy came to the Main Line on Tuesday and dominated the Ravens, posting a doubleheader sweep of 11-1 and 13-0 to continue to show why they are the CSAC leaders as the season turns towards the finish line.
Rosemont (6-11, 0-7 CSAC) has to find some traction in a hurry. That opportunity wasn't going to come against the Griffins starting pitching tandem of Emma Clark and Melissa Hess. Combined, the two held Rosemont to just five hits on the afternoon, with Hess carrying a perfect game into the fifth until Kaileigh Whalen's leadoff triple to right broke up the perfect game and no hitter.
Rosemont's defense didn't help the cause either, committing four errors in each game that lead to a combined total of 11 unearned runs.
The Ravens get back to business on Friday afternoon when they travel to Keystone to face the Giants. That will be followed by a home game against Cabrini on Saturday, starting at noon.
