Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Kevin Cooney

Ravens fall in the rain in opener against Immaculata

ROSEMONT, Pa. - The rain fell. And for a long time on Friday, Rosemont's women's soccer team was able to weather an offensive storm that was coming from Immaculata.
However, the Mighty Macs were just too much to hold off for long. Immaculata scored three times in a flurry of action in the second half during a season-opening 4-0 victory over the Ravens Friday in a non-league contest at the Ravens Athletic Complex.
TURNING POINT: Immaculata took command of the game early in the second half when Riley Rudd scored off a scramble in the box, knocking it past emergency goaltender Teagan Dawson- who was called into action when starting goaltender Emma Lindsay was temporarily forced out of the game for an evaluation after a head injury.  That made it 2-0 Mighty Macs, who would tack on two more goals.
STANDOUT RAVEN: Rosemont's Madeline Polino was able to push the attack and had two of the Ravens five shots on goal during the game.  Lindsay also was strong keeping the Ravens in the game with some solid goaltending for most of the game while the offense tried to get back on track.
HEAD COACHING DEBUT: Friday was the first game for Ryan Hartzell as the head coach of the women's program. The former men's standout took over the program this past spring.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Ravens are back in action on Sunday afternoon with a non-conference game against Washington College (Maryland). It will be a noon kickoff. The Ravens then travel for a road contest against Rowan on Tuesday night.
