DOYLESTOWN, Pa - After three games of being tantalizingly close to breaking through, Rosemont's men's soccer team finally received their just reward for some hard work on Wednesday night.
The Ravens received goals from
Kareem Devenish and
Alioune Sy while
Grant Gonzalez recorded five saves as Rosemont defeated Delaware Valley College by a 2-0 score in a non-conference game in Doylestown.
It was Rosemont's first win of the year. They had lost two one-goal games out of their first three after dropping the season opener to Ramapo by a 3-1 margin. Each time, they had carried play extremely well.
On Wednesday, that effort was finally rewarded.
Devenish recorded the first goal of the night at the 15 minute mark, taking a long pass from
Christian Rafter on a breakaway and knocked it home past Aggies goaltender Billy Moyer.
For most of the night, that was the lone tally. However, Rosemont would throw another score on the board in the 83rd minute when Sy scored on a low shot from 15 yards out, getting an assist by
Sal Turelli for the insurance goal.
The Ravens will play on Saturday at Wesley College in Dover, Del. Game time has been pushed up to 12 noon because of the potential for stormy weather caused in part by the outer bands of Hurricane Florence.
