Tip of the Hat: Reiners scores three as Ravens blank Bryn Athyn

Timothy Reiners scrambled away from the net, extended his arms and seemed to bask in the moment.
After all, who could blame the sophomore forward from Logan, NJ? It isn't every night that hat tricks take place- especially in the conference opener for your team.
Reiners scored three times in the second half, helping Rosemont pull away and earn a 5-0 win over Bryn Athyn Friday evening in its Colonial States Athletic Conference opener at the Ravens Athletic Complex.
Reiners became the first Raven to score a hat trick since Sean Bordon scored five times against Bryn Athyn in a non-league contest on Oct 4, 2016. (Friday night was Bryn Athyn's first game as a member of the CSAC.) It is only the fourth hat trick in program history with Luke McIlvaine recording two of them- once against Gwynedd-Mercy on Oct 22, 2013 and another against Marywood on Oct. 4, 2014.
It was the first time that the Ravens won their CSAC opener since beating Immaculata 3-2 in 2014 and only the third time in program history. (They opened the 2012 CSAC schedule with a 3-2 win over Centenary at home.)
It was a dominating performance in the second half that saw the Ravens attacking the net, feeling aggressive and cashing in on opportunities that didn't present itself in the first half. (The lone goal of the first half was a Josh Lessig tally off a cross in the 38th minute.)
Reiners took advantage of a turnover midway through the second, drilling a ball that deflected off the hands of Lions goaltender Shane McCurdy and trickling into the net for the second tally of the evening.
That started the avalanche. Reiners connected on a nifty cross from Christian Rafter (one goal, two assists) on the night by scoring from just outside the left post in the wide open net in the 59th minute.
Rafter added his goal in the 75th minute off a nice pass from Ameer Payton to make it 4-0 before Reiners final score came on a header off a Rafter pass that set him up perfectly.
Rosemont will head back outside of league play on Monday night at the Ravens Athletic Complex when they host Neumann University. Game time is 7 p.m.
