OSCEOLA, Fla. - Just being able to get to Florida on time and without weather issues for the Rosemont softball team's season opening trip put them one step ahead of the game from 2018, where the Ravens ended up missing three games after a flight cancellation and drove all the way to the Disney World region to get some games in.
Being able to play two competitive games and have a win to show for it after the first day is an even better thing for the Ravens.
After dropping a close 7-6 contest to Mitchell College in the first game of the PFX Spring Games schedule in Orlando, Fla, the Ravens bounced back strongly as Anallisa Yoder's single to right center brought
Kaileigh Whalen home with the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning during a 3-2 victory over the College of St. Elizabeth in the nightcap.
College of St. Elizabeth is scheduled to join the Colonial States Athletic Conference in 2019-20 school year.
"I'm really happy with the way that everything went for us today," softball coach
Francine Roseman said. "It was a good way for us to start the trip."
Madison Hagerty had two hits for the Ravens in the Game 2 win while Yoder and Whalen has RBIs in the victory over St. Elizabeth's.
Rosemont will have an early wake-up call on Sunday when they face York College (9 a.m) and Elizabethtown College (11:15) on the second day of the trip before an off day on Monday.
