ASTON- For the first time in over a year- and for the first time with
Becky Bonner as head coach- the Rosemont women's tennis team emerged victorious on Saturday afternoon.
The Ravens received solid performances from
Julianna Capece,
Chase Leonard,
Kelly Shaughnessy and
Jesse Galvin to post a 6-3 victory over Neumann University Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match.
The win was the first for the Ravens since March 14, 2018 when the Ravens beat Notre Dame (Md.) by a 6-1 margin in the season opener and Colonial States Athletic Conference opener.Â
Capece and Leonard both won their singles matches - Capece by a 6-1, 6-0 margin over Maddy Varney; Leonard by a 6-2, 6-1 margin over Olivia Warren- after teaming up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
The same holds true for Shaughnessy - 6-0, 6-0 over Ashley Francis- and Galvin - 6-3, 7-5 over Lindsay Padilla- in their singles matches. The two teamed up for a 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Ravens are back in action on Tuesday when they will host Cabrini at the Ravens Tennis Complex.
