Wellesley, MA—The Rosemont Men's Soccer team traveled to Wellesley, Massachusetts for their first NCAA appearance to play the 19
th nationally ranked team, Amherst College. The Ravens held strong with a great defensive performance the first half, but Amherst broke through in the 19
th minute with a header, to take the lead 1-0. Shortly after, Amherst scored their second goal in the 22
nd minute off a set piece. The Mammoths went into halftime up 2-0.
The Ravens battled shutting down the Mammoths for the first 25 minutes of the second half, but Amherst scored their 3
rd goal in the 73
rd minute, followed closely by their 4
th in the 74
th. The match ended 5-0 for Amherst with a late goal in the 85
th minute.
Although the match did not end the way the Ravens would have hoped, the program had a remarkable season, setting numerous records for the program, the athletic department, and the college.
This season, the Rosemont Men's Soccer made history by achieving the following:
- 1st Time Hosting CSAC Playoffs
- 1st Regular Season Title
- 1st CSAC Championship
- 1st NCAA Tournament Appearance
- 61 Goals in a Single Season
- Goalkeeper Wins in a Single Season
- Most Team Wins in a Season: 12
- Ranked 4th in the Nation with Points Per Game
- Ranked 5th in the Nation with Scoring
- Ranked 6th in the Nation with Team Assists per Game
- Ranked 7th in the Nation with Goals (Fields: 20)
- Ranked 9th in the Nation with Points (172)
