Ravens lose in opening round of CSAC Playoffs

Rosemont, PA- The Rosemont Softball team saw it's historic 2021 season come to an end on Tuesday afternoon. The Ravens found themselves on the wrong end of a 9-1 contest against the Eagles of Saint Elizabeth University. The contest marked the first ever appearance for Rosemont College in postseason softball.

How it happened

Saint Elizabeth wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the first inning. Four hits and a walk were pivotal to the rally, that was eventually cut short by SO RF Mia Viola who gunned down a runner at the plate to prevent further damage. The Eagles added a single run in the top of the second on an RBI single from Jontae Patton. The Ravens answered by scoring what would be their lone run of the day on an RBI groundout off the bat of Viola in the bottom of the second.

The Eagles answered back in the top of the third with a flurry. Saint Elizabeth forced the Ravens to go the bullpen twice with a 4 run, 6 hit rally.  The Eagles would go on to add single runs in the 5th and 6th innings to close out the scoring. Alyssa Hampton got the win in the circle for the Eagles who advance to the CSAC double elimination tournament at Cedar Crest starting Friday.

JR Brittney Strauss , JR Analisa Yoder, SO Gillyan Dewbrew, SO Dani Sharpe, and SR Christina Broccolino each had one of the Ravens five hits on the day.

Notes
Earlier in the day JR Emily Bingman was named First Team All-CSAC for her work behind the plate and her .382 average this spring, while JR Analisa Yoder received Honorable Mention on the All-CSAC team.
