READING, PA- The Rosemont Ravens Lacrosse team won their first game of the season Saturday against Alvernia. The Ravens struck first with a goal by GS Liam O'Connor. After the first quarter, Rosemont trailed 2-1. Rosemont goalie GS Mark Porter struck next running down the field, evading the Alvernia defense, and found the back of the net to tie the match 2-2. By the end of the second, it was 3-3 after GS Brandon Krausse scored on an assist from SR Mason Dennis.

The Ravens trailed 6-5 heading into the final quarter with 3^rd period goals from FR Navarro Blakes and SR Mason Dennis. 16 seconds into the fourth quarter, SR defenseman Edmund Whisnant scored from 20 yards out on an assist from SR John Martinelli. Rosemont regained their lead for the first time since the opening goal of the game with a goal from GS defenseman Osaze Thornton. It was a one-point battle up until five minutes left after goals from SO Nick Lorelli and FR Navarro Blakes until JR Steve McLaughlin gave the Ravens a comfortable 2-point lead. From there, the Ravens piled on with goals from GS Brandon Krausse and FR Navarro Blakes for the 12-8 victory.

SR John Martinelli went 13-22 on face offs. SR Mason Dennis had 2 assists with 7 ground balls and Mark Porter had 6 ground balls with a 57.9 save percentage. FR Navarro Blakes led the team with a hat trick and 4 points overall. GS Brandon Krausse became the all-time leading point scorer in Rosemont lacrosse history by scoring his 159^th career point in 57 games taking the throne from Stephen Licata who had scored 158 points in 60 career games.

The Ravens will be Saturday February 26^th away at Drew University starting at 3 PM.
