Bryn Mawr, PA| Cedar Crest College Traveled to the Rosemont Athletics Complex to Take on The Lady Ravens in Round One of the United East Skye Division Playoffs.
How it Happened:
From kickoff, both defenses excelled keeping the ball toward midfield for the first 10' of the game until Cedar Crest broke through for a couple shots. Pressuring the Ravens defense, they stepped up creating a clear down field finding
Rena Kotsedakis for a shot the missed just left at the 15'. Cedar Crest would regain possession firing a shot saved by
Emily Rossino saved at the 22' mark, Rosemont's defense would not allow a shot on goal for the rest of the half as they had opportunities to score at the end of the half, but to no prevail the half ended 0-0.
The second half Rosemont had some offensive looks at the beginning of the half, with some great saves made by the Cedar Crest goalie. Cedar Crest would break down field for a shot at the 56' that was saved by
Emily Rossino. Rosemont would continue the offensive attack with a collection of shots from
Danielle DiMarco,
Cassidy Smith,
Sarah Warner and
Mia Rafter but through 70' neither side could find the back of the net. The last 20' of the game both sides defense stepped up only allowing two shot attempts for the remainder of regular time.
The first overtime was a thriller with both sides getting offensive looks.
Abbygail Peace would get a look off of a corner attempt but it missed just to the right, Cedar Crest would get two shots then followed by
Cassidy Smith at the end of the first OT that was saved.
The second overtime was all Rosemont as they maintained possession for a majority of the 10', only allowing one shot to Cedar Crest. Unable to find the back of the net this game was decided in Penalty kicks. Cedar Crest would edge out the win 2-0 in the deciding Penalty kicks advancing to the second round of the United East Playoffs. The girls played a tough 110' in a tough loss to end a successful season.
