Sharpe Throws Complete Game Shutout as Ravens Split with Giants in CSAC Opener: 2-1 L/ 0-5 W

Both teams were strong on the rubber on Friday, but Keystone College was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a game 1.  The Ravens dominated the Giants in game 2.

Game 1:
Lauren Begg started the game for Rosemont College and recorded 21 outs but takes the loss.  Rosemont College opened up scoring in the second inning, when Courtney Cienki's wild pitch allowed one run to score for Rosemont College.

Cienki was on the rubber for Keystone College. She threw a complete game, lasted seven innings, allowed two hits and one run while striking out nine.  Begg led things off in the pitcher's circle for Rosemont College. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out two.  Kylee Kubitschek and Begg each collected one hit for Rosemont.  The Ravens ran wild on the base paths (6-7) with six stolen bases by Jade Gomez-Chavarria (2), Liv Hamme (2), Kubitschek (1), Yoder (1).  Catcher Brooke Staple got the last laugh however as she went 2-for-3 at the plate, including the game-winning RBI.

Game 2:
Captain Dani Sharpe took the ball in the second game.  She went all the way, scattering five hits, five walks, and striking out three on her way to a complete game shutout.

Rosemont got things started in the second inning when Kylee Kubitschek knocked in Emily Bingman, scoring one run. Kendyll Strohl moved Liv Hamme across the plate with a sac fly for the second run. It was all Sharpe and the Ravens needed for the victory.  The Ravens knocked starting pitcher, Clare Johns (Fr.), out of the game in the 3rd after plating 4 runs. Cienke came off the bench to pitch the remainder for the Giants. The Ravens added a 5th run (scored by Bingman) off Cienke in the 6th.  Lauren Begg led Rosemont with two hits in three at bats.

The Ravens (6-10, 1-1 CSAC) travel to Wilson (6-8, 0-0 CSAC) on Thursday April 6.
