Chambersburg, PA| Rosemont Would Travel to Chambersburg to Compete in the United East Skye Division Playoff Hosted by Wilson College.
Rosemont would enter the tournament as the second seed and would beat Notre Dame of Maryland and beat Wilson to advance to the championship. Wilson would then beat Notre Dame of Maryland in an elimination game to start Monday the 6th. Rosemont would then face of versus the Phoenix as Wilson needed to win two games in this double elimination tournament.Â
Game 1: Lauren Begg would toe up the rubber for the Ravens.
Wilson got out to an early lead putting two runs on the board in the top of the first as Lauren was able to wiggle her way out of a bases loaded jam. Bottom of the inning Rosemont would respond with a run of their own as
Kendyll Strohl doubled and a single by
Emily Bingman would put two on with one out setting up the sacrifice fly for
Analisa Yoder bringing in Strohl. making the score 2-1.Â
The second inning Begg would strikeout two for the Ravens going 1-2-3. Although the Ravens were unable to capitalize leaving
Shona Willoughby on base.Â
Top of the third Wilson would add top more runs with a homer to make their lead 4-1. Bottom of the inning the Ravens failed to respond going down in order for the first time in the tournament.
Top of the fourth, Wilson would lead off with two singles bringing in cheyanne Willoughby to pitch for the Ravens as she would hold their lead to three. Bottom of the inning with some great hitting by
Olivia Hamme,
Allison Goodman, and
Shona Willoughby to load the bases with two outs, the Ravens were left stranded headed to the fifth.Â
Top five, Willoughby use her defense to her with the three outs after giving up a lead off walk. Bottom of the inning Strohl would reach with a single followed by another single from Bingman. Hamme would single up the single with 2 outs bringing home Strohl bringing the Ravens within two runs (4-2).Â
top of the sixth Wilson would respond with three runs of their own extending their lead with a two run shot. Bottom of the inning the Ravens would go 1-2-3 for the second time in the game.Â
Top seven, Wilson would add one more run extending their lead to six (8-2).
Lauren Begg would reach on a single to lead off the seventh followed by a bunt by Strohl putting runners on second and third. Yoder would single bringing in two runs and bring the Ravens within four (8-4). Hamme would double putting runners on second and third again as Goodman would hit a sacrifice fly scoring Yoder. This effort was not enough as the Ravens would fall 8-5 setting up a win or go home for both team in game 7 on the United East Playoffs.Â
Game 2: Cheyanne Willoughby would start on the rubber for the Ravens.
Top of the first inning, Willoughby would find a quick 1-2-3 with a line out and two ground outs. As
Kendyll Strohl would single with one out, and stealing second to get into scoring position. With two outs she would steal third setting up a single for
Analisa Yoder giving the Ravens a 1-0 advantage to start the game.
The second inning Wilson would answer with some small ball to tie up the game at one. Bottom of the inning Rosemont would take a 2-1 lead after an error by Wilson would put
Alicia Gotts across the plate after reaching on a fielders choice.Â
Top of the third Wilson would unleash for six runs as a string of hits brought in
Alicia Gotts to pitch for the Ravens. This sequence would give Wilson a 7-2 lead. Bottom of the third Rosemont would respond with two runs as Bingman would draw a walk followed by a double by Hamme putting runners on second and third. This set up the Sacrifice fly for
Allison Goodman to score Bingman. Alicia Gotta would walk bringing up
Shona Willoughby who would single up the right side scoring Goodman bringing the Ravens back within three runs 7-4.Â
Top of the fourth Wilson would tack on three more runs extending their lead 10-4. The Ravens would load the bases in the bottom of the inning with two outs but were unable to chip into Wilson lead.Â
Top five Wilson would add another run, as the Ravens defensively saved a few more from coming across the plate.Â
The Ravens would unfortunately not score for te rest of the game as Wilson added one more run in the seventh to win12-4. They will play Penn College in Williamsport for the United East Softball Title. Best of luck to both teams.Â
The Ravens fought hard all season as they worded to get back to the Finals. It was a great, fun season played by the Rowdy Ravens.
