Raymond Miller – a successful runner at the collegiate level who has achieved success at the high school and collegiate level in the Philadelphia region- has been named as the new head men's and women's cross-country coach at Rosemont College.
"I want to help these ladies and gentlemen student-athletes to be the best they can be on and off the track," Miller said. "I'm looking forward to getting started with our team."
Miller has been head coach at Jenkintown High, Barrack Hebrew Academy and Nazareth Academy. He has coached at total of 13 District One medal winners, four district champions, four PIAA state qualifiers and a state medalist in track and field. He was named the 2018 Coach of the Year in the Bicentennial Athletic Conference for his tenure at Jenkintown.
At Penn State Abington, Ray was ahead of the Recruiting Program for Cross-Country. Ray recruited a Men's Program who went from finishing fifth in the conference championship in his first year to Runner-Up and a 2nd Place Trophy the very next season in the NEAC championship which is the North Eastern Athletic Conference. In that 2nd place finish, Penn State Abington had 4 student-athletes earn All-Conference Honors. Ray also assisted at practice and competitions in helping design the training schedule, attend meets, transport student-athletes to practice and meet sites.
"We are extremely excited to have Ray Miller on board," Rosemont Director of Athletics
Joseph Pavlow said. "His coaching experience in the area should provide an excellent experience for our teams this fall and beyond as we look to carve out a niche for the Rosemont Cross Country programs in the Philadelphia region going forward. Hiring Ray should setup Rosemont to compete for CSAC cross country championships in the very near future."
Miller was a successful runner at DeSales University, where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree. He was a Cross Country Academic All-American in his sophomore year and has earned All-Conference in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference- the forerunner of the CSAC>
Ray is currently the activities coordinator at the State Correctional Institution of Phoenix in Collegeville, PA. He still runs, competing in numerous 5Ks, five Broad Street Runs and the New Jersey, Philadelphia and Rock and Roll Half-Marathons.
Miller and his wife Rosie live in Elkins Park, PA with their daughters, Hannah and Sarah.
