LA PLUME, Pa. – The Rosemont men's soccer team turned around a 3-1 deficit by scoring three unanswered goals to claim a 4-3 conference win at Keystone College this afternoon. The Ravens improved to 3-6 (2-0 CSAC) and the Giants fell to 6-4 (0-2 CSAC) with the result.
The Giants started quickly, scoring twice in the first 12 minutes to stake a 2-0 lead over the Ravens. In the 20th minute Yohana Ghede scored his first goal of the season, to the far post after a drop pass from Victor Rodriguez to get the Ravens to within a goal at 2-1.
With Rosemont trailing 3-1, Bob Vetrano tapped a pass from Luke McIlvaine into the goal with just 14 seconds left before the break to give Rosemont some momentum, trailing by only one goal at the break, 3-2.
While the Raven's defense kept the Giants at bay, McIlvaine kicked a goal inside the far post in the 66th minute to knot the game at 3-3.
With the clock winding down, and the game starting to resemble what would be an overtime affair, McIlvaine stepped up to use his last-minute heroics again, kicking home a goal off of a scramble in front of the net with only 53 seconds remaining in the game to account for Rosemont's third straight goal.
Max McDonald earned the win, saving four Giants shots on goal.
The Ravens next play at home, hosting the Marywood Pacers at the Ravens Athletic Complex on Saturday, October 4th. The game is the second of soccer doubleheader on Family Weekend on the Rosemont Campus. Game time for the men is scheduled for a 4:00pm start.
