ROSEMONT – The Rosemont women's soccer team shut out visiting King's College at the Ravens Athletic Complex this evening by a final score of 2-0 in a non-conference match-up. The Ravens upped their overall record to 5-3-2 with the win while King's dropped to 3-3-2 overall.
Both defenses played hard and scoring chances were hard to come by for both teams until the 28th minute, when Allison Myers kicked home a rebound off to the right side of the goal to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead.
The defenses for both teams continued to hold sway, but the Ravens again hit pay dirt, this time off the boot of Kerri-Gene Lussier, who scored her first career collegiate goal in the 79th minute by nailing a bullet into the right side of goal off of a rebound to put the Ravens in front 2-0.
Rosemont's defense and continued solid goal keeping from Jenna Kaiser were able to stifle the Lady Monarch's attempts at trying to get back into the contest.
Kaiser earned the shutout win, her third such win of the season.
The remainder of the Raven's regular season schedule is against conference competition, starting with a game against the Marywood Pacers on Saturday. The Ravens will host the Pacers in the first game of a soccer doubleheader on Family Weekend on the Rosemont campus. The game is scheduled for a 1:00pm start.
