Courtney Whelan, Ravens' Defense Shut Down Defenders

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Rosemont women's soccer team applied tremendous offensive pressure against the host Baptist Bible Defenders this afternoon, outshooting the Defenders by a count of 32-5, but it was a penalty kick from the boot of Rosemont defender Courtney Whelan that provided the only score of the game as the Ravens defeated Baptist Bible 1-0.

Whelan ripped the ball into the goal with only 3:19 left in the contest.  The defense and keeper did the rest to earn the victory for the Ravens.

The Ravens' offense was held off the scoreboard for over 86 minutes by Katelyn King, the Baptist Bible keeper, who accounted for 15 saves on Rosemont shots on goal.

Jenna Kaiser, the Rosemont keeper, stopped both Baptist Bible shots on goal to earn her seventh win and fourth shutout  of the season.

With the result the Ravens moved to 7-4-2 on the season (4-2 CSAC). The Defenders fell to 2-9 (1-4 CSAC).

The Ravens next play on Thursday, 10/16 at Cairn University. The CSAC game is scheduled for a 4:00pm start in Langhorne.
