Ravens Triple Up Gators

Steiner, Lelie and Lussier Each Score in Ravens' Win

ROSEMONT – The Rosemont women's soccer team played a tenacious Notre Dame of Maryland University this afternoon, using goals from three different players to score a 3-1 victory over the Gators. The Ravens moved to 6-4-2 overall (3-2 CSAC) with the win. NDMU fell to 2-8 (0-5 CSAC) with the result.

The Ravens had a time of possession advantage for much of the game, and the possessions converted into a score in the 31st minute when Cassidy Steiner tipped the ball past her defender, and then eluded the NDMU keeper before striking the ball into the net from in front of goal to give the Ravens the 1-0 lead. That would be the lone score in the first half.

In the 51st minute, Danielle Lelie took a pass from Allison Myers and drilled it into the near right side of the cage to give the Ravens some insurance and a 2-0 lead. In the 59th minute Kerri-Gene Lussier would kick home a bounced ball off of a defender near the front of goal to make the score 3-0.

At the 78 minute mark the Gators hit the scoreboard when Laura Kaufman kicked the ball into the center of the goal from five yards out, off of a pass from Cristina Barios-Lopez to end the scoring for the day at 3-1.

Jenna Kaiser earned the win, saving one Gator shot on goal in 67:02. Andrea Dossantos finished the game in front of the cage playing the final 22:58 and making three stops on Gator shots on goal.

This was the last of three straight home games, the longest stretch of home games for the Ravens this season. Their next challenge comes on Saturday, 10/11 when they face the Baptist Bible Defenders in a CSAC game. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00pm.
