ROSEMONT – The Ravens volleyball team were defeated this afternoon by the Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland University by a set score of 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-16). It was Senior Day at Alumnae Hall, and it was the final collegiate match for seniors Lexy Mrongowius, Aly Pizzo and Eve Romanowski. The Ravens ended their season with an overall record of 2-23 (1-10 CSAC). NDMU ended their regular season with an 11-13 mark (6-5 CSAC).
Romanowski did lead the Ravens with nine kills, giving her a season total of 152, just eight kills shy of her Rosemont program record set in 2013 when she was credited with 160 kills.
Mrongowius will leave the Ravens with a new assists single-season record. Needing three assists to set the new standard, Mrongowius had 17 assists, ending her season with 331. The previous record was 317 assists in the 1993 season set by Kerri Bernatowiciz.
Pizzo and Leilani Carter had five digs to lead the Ravens in that category. Carter, Romanowski and Nadirah Anderson each had two blocks in today's match.
