Glenside, PA – The Rosemont men's basketball team were outscored by seven points in the first half and by an additional 10 points in the 2nd half to account for a 78-61 loss at Arcadia in tonight's non-conference game. The Raven's record now stands at 3-6 overall (1-2 CSAC) while Arcadia's overall record moved to 6-4 overall.
The Knights moved out to a 6-0 lead in the first 2 ½ minutes as the Ravens came out cold, missing their first two shots and committing three turnovers in that opening span. Rosemont would outscore Arcadia 13-10 to move to within three points of the Knights, 16-13 midway through the period and would stay with the Knights until 8 minutes were left, trailing 19-16.
Behind 24-20, Arcadia would put the next six straight points on the board to give them their first double-digit lead, 30-20 with 2:41 in the half. A Marcus Thomas three-pointer from Dom Scafidi would get the Ravens back to within seven and after the teams traded buckets down the stretch, the Ravens trailed at the break, 32-25.
The Knights would open up the second half with another 6-0 run to take a 38-25 lead and after that point the Ravens would work hard to get back to within seven points when Dom Scafidi hit a three from Marcus Thomas to make the score 45-38 in favor of Arcadia with 12:39 left. Still trailing by eight, 53-45 with 9:45 left, Arcadia wrested control of the game with another run, this time seven points to give them a 60-45 lead that the Ravens would not be able to surmount.
Marcus Thomas led the Ravens with 13 points and Khai Roberts added another 11 for the Ravens. Dom Scafidi pulled down nine rebounds to lead Rosemont.
The Knights had four players score in double figures led by Sean Mayberry's 17 points. Joe Brown (16), Jose Figueroa (14) and Torrell Candelaria (10) were the other Knights in double-digits. Brown led the Knights in rebounding with eight.
The Ravens travel to Ursinus for their final game of 2014 on Saturday, 12/20. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 1:00pm start.
