Lightning Start Enough for Ravens

ROSEMONT – Only 50 seconds elapsed in this afternoon's game against the Neumann Knights when Stephanie Tamburro fed a pass to Lauren Whelan who converted the pass into the left side of the goal. The Raven's solid defense and goalkeeping did the rest as the Ravens shut out the Knights, 1-0, to open the CSAC schedule for both teams at the Ravens Athletics Complex.

With the win the Ravens moved over the ".500" mark, at 3-2-2 overall and 1-0 in the CSAC. The Knights fell to 0-5 (0-1 CSAC) with the result.

Neumann's keeper, Briana King also had a solid afternoon, stopping all of the other seven Ravens' shots on goal. Jenna Kaiser made six stops and was credited with the win.

Whelan has accounted for the game-winning goal in each of Rosemont's three victories this season. Today's goal was her 6th of the season. The assist from Tamburro was her 2nd of the year.

The Ravens will try to extend their undefeated streak to four games and their winning streak to two when they hit the road on Wednesday, 9/24, to face the Cedar Crest Falcons in a CSAC contest. Kick-off is slated for 4:00pm.
