ASTON, Pa. – The Rosemont women's soccer team were defeated at Neumann University this evening by a final score of 2-1 in overtime. With the result the Ravens are now 5-9-1 overall (4-4-1 CSAC) while the Knights are now 2-12 (2-7 CSAC).
The teams played a scoreless first half, with the Ravens out-shot 11-3 in the half, but keeper Andrea Dossantos made five saves to keep the Knights off of the scoreboard.
In the 50th minute, Neumann's Nicole McAfee scored her first goal of the night from Alexa DeRose to put the home side up 1-0. The Ravens worked hard on a comeback, and it paid off when Victoria Kasper hit a game-tying goal from long distance over the Neumann keeper to make the score 1-1 in the 66th minute. Although the Ravens outshot the Knights in the second half, the score would remain tied at the end of regulation.
With 3:25 played into overtime, Neumann's DeRose again fed the ball to McAfee after a free kick and she would score to end the game on the first shot by either team in the extra period.
The Ravens stay on the road for their next outing, a CSAC game at Immaculata on Saturday, 10/24. The game is scheduled for a 1:00pm kick-off.
