IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Rosemont women's soccer team erased a 1-0 halftime deficit by scoring four times in the second half to claim a 4-1 win over the host Immaculata Mighty Macs in an important CSAC clash this afternoon.
With the end of the regular season in sight and with the Rosemont women's soccer team just above the host Immaculata Mighty Macs in the CSAC standings coming into this afternoon's contest, this was a big game for both the Ravens and Mighty Macs. With the win the Ravens moved to 6-9-1 overall (5-4-1 CSAC). Immaculata fell to 3-11-2 (3-6-1 CSAC), and they are now eliminated from the postseason picture.
In the 31st minute of the game, Immaculata lured the Rosemont keeper out of the net and Elizabeth Dudas fed Morgan McDonough who hit from 30 yards out to give the home side the 1-0 lead that would remain into the halftime break.
The Ravens must have "watched Rocky" to get a spark at the half, because they came out breathing fire. Just 3 ½ minutes into the second half, Savannah Widdicombe fed Alexa Rhoads who took advantage of the ball being loose in the box to knot the score at 1-1. Just 2:42 later the Ravens would take the lead when Widdicombe would score on a give-and-go with Lindsay Wong to put the Ravens up 2-1. That would prove to be Rosemont's game-winning goal.
Widdicombe would strike again when In the 65th minute she hit the ball past the Immaculata keeper while the ball was loose at the top of the box, giving Rosemont some insurance, 3-1.
With just over one minute left in the contest Cheyenne Tumolo would score off of the crossbar to account for the final score.
The Ravens outshot the Mighty Macs by an 18-11 count, and had twice as many corners awarded (6 to 3).
Jenna Kaiser earned the win for the Ravens, stopping six of Immaculata's seven shots on goal.
The Ravens have two games remaining in the regular season, starting with a non-conference match-up against Elizabethtown College on Tuesday, 10/26 at 4:00pm at the Ravens Athletic Complex. The Ravens will end their regular season when they travel to Gwynedd Mercy on Thursday, 10/29 in their final scheduled CSAC game.
