ROSEMONT – The Rosemont women's soccer team had their offense shut down by the visiting Elizabethtown College Blue Jays this afternoon by a final score of 3-0 in a non-conference game. It was the first time that the two programs have met in women's soccer. With the result the Ravens moved their record to 6-10-1, and E-Town improved to 11-5-1. But as a result of other action in the CSAC today, the Ravens have clinched a post-season playoff berth in the CSAC tournament.
With Elizabethtown applying pressure for most of the game, the Blue Jay offense was coming up empty until the 40th minute, when Sam Procak scored her first goal of the year to put the visitors up 1-0. As it would turn out, it would be the winning goal.
Elizabethtown scored a momentum-holding goal with only 1:32 left in the first half when Trisha Clark scored her 2nd of the year, as Rosemont would trail 2-0 going into the half.
The final goal of the game would come only 3:26 into the 2nd half on a kick by Morgan Chambers (her 3rd score of the season), capping three goals in an elapsed time of just over nine minutes.
Despite the three goals yielded, Jenna Kaiser had little chance to stop the Elizabethtown scoring shots, and she saved nine of the 12 Blue Jay shots on goal.
The final game of the regular season for the Ravens will take place on Thursday, 10/29 at Gwynedd Mercy, who sits in 2nd place in the CSAC standings, starting at 6:00pm.
In other CSAC action today that impacted Rosemont's post-season life, Cairn was visiting Keystone with Cairn needing a win to remain in the playoff race. Keystone trailed 3-1 in the second half of the game, then tied the game in regulation and won 4-3 after scoring in the first minute of overtime. As a result, the Ravens have clinched the 6th and final CSAC playoff spot and will travel to the #3-seeded team on Monday, 11/2, no matter what happens in Rosemont's final regular-season game on Thursday. It will be the fourth straight season that the Rosemont women's soccer team has qualified for post-season play.
