Langhorne, PA – Senior captain Dom Scafidi scored a career-high 27 points and had 10 rebounds for a double-double as the Ravens (12-11, 10-6 CSAC) earned a much-needed road win over the Cairn University Highlanders (2-10, 2-13 CSAC) by a final count of 72-53.
The Highlanders would open up the game with a 6-5 lead, but a trey from Scafidi would put the Ravens up 8-6 and Rosemont would not trail for the remainder of the contest. The Ravens would continue to build on their lead. After a three-pointer from Charles Presley with 10:12 on the clock, the Ravens would take their first double-digit lead of the game, leading 19-9. The Ravens would go into the break with a nine-point lead, 37-28.
Rosemont would put together a nifty 6-0 run to start the 2nd half to give them some extra breathing room, leading the Highlanders 43-28 with 18:27 left. Over the next few minutes Rosemont would expand their lead to 19 points, outscoring Cairn 12-2 to start the 2nd half, to move ahead 49-30 with 16:19 on the clock.
Cairn would keep trying to assemble a comeback, getting as close as 10 points with the Ravens leading 61-51 with 8:05 on the clock, but Khai Roberts would respond with a big shot from downtown to put Rosemont back up by 13 points with just under eight minutes remaining. From that point the Ravens would continue to extend their lead, eventually stretching their advantage to a 19-point bulge, 72-53 with just under three minutes left. Neither team would put points on the board in the remaining time.
In addition to Scafidi's big night, Marcus Thomas also scored in double-digits for Rosemont with 11 points. Nadir Stukes was charitable, dishing six assists to lead Rosemont while Khai Roberts had four assists.
Scafidi shot 12-for-18 from the field including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc.
The Highlanders were led by Darnell Clowney and Reuben Lacy, each scoring 14 points.
The Ravens finish up their tough four-straight road game schedule on Saturday when they travel to La Plume, Pa. to face the Keystone Giants in another crucial CSAC game. The tip-off is scheduled for 3:00pm.
