FREDERICK, MD – The Ravens battled back from a three-goal deficit this afternoon, but the host Hood Blazers went on to score the next four goals and hold off the Ravens as Hood (2-1) defeated Rosemont (0-3) on the road today in a non-conference game.
Trailing 1-0 after three minutes, Stephen Licata scored the first goal for Rosemont with 6:32 on the clock to tie the game, 1-1. Hood took advantage of a man-up opportunity to grab a 2-1 lead with five ticks left on the clock in the first quarter.
Hood added two more tallies to take a 4-1 lead with 6:34 left before the half, but the Ravens put together two man-up goals from Ralph Ibezim to get to within 4-3 with just under five minutes on the clock. Another man-up goal was scored by the Blazers with 1:50 left to end the scoring in the half with the home side leading 5-3.
The Ravens opened up with two goals from Justin Regan on man-up opportunities to once again tie the game, as it was 5-5 with 11:57 left in the third. The Blazers then came out and scored the last three goals of the quarter to take an 8-5 advantage going into the final period.
Hood would make it four in a row with 13:09 on the clock, putting the Ravens behind 9-5. A goal from Rasool Smith would temporarily halt Hood's momentum, but the Blazers would score the next three goals within a span of 1:46 to take a 12-6 lead with 8:27 remaining.
Anthony Bottoms would score with a man-up and Dean Grisoff would end the scoring for the Ravens down the stretch, but the Ravens would be trailing by four goals with a scant 2:26 left.
Ibezim and Regan led the Ravens with two goals apiece, with four other players contributing lone goals. Licata was credited with two assists to go along with his goal.
Tai Foster (4) and Sean Murphy (3) scored the most goals for the Blazers.
