WLAX Gets First CSAC Win At Centenary

Hackettstown, N.J. – The Rosemont women's lacrosse team (2-2, 1-1 CSAC) outscored the host Centenary College Cyclones (1-2, 1-1 CSAC) this afternoon by an 8-2 count in the first half, and doubled-up the Cyclones in the second half (8-4) to earn a 16-6 conference win, their first CSAC win of the season.

After falling just short to the Cyclones last year (14-11), today's win snapped a Centenary six-game winning streak that went back to 2007, and it was the program's first win over the Cyclones since 2003.

Up by one goal at 3-2 midway through the first half, the Ravens put themselves in a winning position by shutting out the Cyclones 5-0 for the remainder of the half to grab a six-goal 8-2 lead going into the break.

The Ravens continued to tack on goals in the second half. After a Centenary goal just 24 seconds into the second stanza, Rosemont scored the next three goals to move ahead 11-3. Leading 12-6 with 8:21 left in the game, Rosemont scored the final five goals to be the run-out winners on the day.

Laura Bunyard and Kristy Evans scored four goals apiece to lead the Ravens. The four goals represent the single-game career highs for both Bunyard and Evans. Gina Ragona and Nicole Goodwin each scored thrice while Ali Osorio and Kerry Hars each had one goal on the day. Hars, a presence in the middle, won nine draw controls. Goodwin led the Ravens with two caused turnovers.

For Centenary, Abby Voelkner scored four times and teammate Carlie Schmitt scored twice.

Rosemont goalie Nia Hall had another strong game in goal, stopping seven of Centenary's 13 shots on goal.

The Ravens stay on the road for another conference game when they take the shorter trip to Immaculata on Saturday, 3/28. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
