Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Lots of Goals as Ravens Fall Short at Immaculata

Immaculata, PA – The Rosemont College women's lacrosse team (2-3, 1-2 CSAC) scored more goals against the host Immaculata University Mighty Macs (5-4, 3-1 CSAC) than they have since 2006, but it was not enough as Immaculata extended their nine-goal first half lead in today's CSAC game to pin a 22-9 loss on the Ravens.

The Mighty Macs opened the game with five straight goals in the first 4:22 of the game and the Ravens would have trouble pegging themselves back into the game for the rest of the afternoon. Rosemont freshman Nicole Goodwin would score a free-position goal with 23:08 left for the Ravens' first goal, but Immaculata would score the next three goals to take an 8-1 lead with 17:41 left.

From this point the Ravens showed some good offensive spark as Rosemont put three straight goals on the board. Kerry Hars' free-position goal was followed by scores from Laura Bunyard and Nicole Goodwin's second free-position goal of the afternoon as the Ravens pulled back to within five goals, trailing 9-4 with 7:17 left on the clock in the first.

The Mighty Macs stiffened, however, and put four more balls into the net to take a 13-4 advantage into the halftime break.

Trailing 14-4, goals from Powell Davis and Nicole Goodwin made the score 14-6. Again, Immaculata answered with a salvo of their own, scoring the next four straight to make the score 18-6 with over 19 minutes left. Down the stretch, the final three goals for the Ravens came from Kerry Hars (Free-position), Powell Davis and Nicole Goodwin.

Goodwin put four shots on goal and all led to goals to lead the Ravens. Kerry Hars and Powell Davis each scored twice while Laura Bunyard put one into the net for Rosemont.

The teams combined for 31 goals, which are the most goals scored by the two teams in a game against each other in their head-to-head series going back to the year 2000.

The Ravens have a busy week in front of them starting with a non-conference game at Misericordia on Monday starting at 4:00pm. The team will return home on Wednesday when they host the Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland University in a CSAC contest at the Ravens Athletic Complex starting at 6:00pm.
