Eagles Take Rematch

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – In a rematch of two teams that played each other yesterday, the Eagles of the University of Mary Washington (4-2) once again tamed the Ravens (0-6), this time blanking Rosemont by a final score of 8-0 in 5 innings.

Mary Washington's Rachel Watts struck out eight Ravens and ceded only one hit, a first-inning single down the left field line off the bat of Taylor Mohr, enroute to the win.

The key inning was the bottom of the second. Going into the frame the game was scoreless, but Mary Washington took control scoring five times on four hits. The Eagles tacked on three more runs in the 3rd to account for the final score.

Jess Versage singled to short in the Raven's half of the 5th to account for Rosemont's other base hit.

In the circle, Maggie Miller started for Rosemont and completed three innings, giving up three earned runs. Nikki Maurer pitched scoreless relief in the fourth.

The temperatures are expected to drop rapidly as the Ravens will wrap up their Spring Training trip tomorrow in North Myrtle Beach when they will face Grove City College at 9:30am and 22nd-ranked Rowan University at 1:30pm.
