Rosemont , Pa. – The Rosemont College softball team closed out the home portion of their 2015 season on the short end of both conference games played against the Marywood Pacers on a chilly and windy late-April afternoon. The Ravens moved to 4-25 (3-17 CSAC) while the Pacers' record is 16-13 (15-5 CSAC).
Game 1 – Marywood 11, Rosemont 1 (6 inn.)
Marywood started the game by putting two runs on the board in the top of the 1st inning. The Pacers added another two runs to make it 4-0 going into the bottom of the 4th inning. Rosemont scored an unearned run in their half of the inning to make the score 4-1 in favor of Marywood.
The score remained 4-1 heading into the top of the 6th inning, but the Pacers put together a big inning in the top of the sixth, scoring seven runs on five hits and the game ended with the Ravens trailing 11-1 after the inning was completed.
Marywood pitcher Alyssa Bavaro limited the Ravens to an unearned run on four hits, four strikeouts and a walk for the win.
At the plate, Dani Lelie had two hits for the Ravens, with Lora Zubrzycki and Nikki Maurer each adding a base knock.
Game 2 – Marywood 8, Rosemont 0 (5 inn.)
The Ravens fell victim to another big inning by the Pacers. In this game, the big inning came in the first when the Pacers scored five runs on three hits. Marywood continued to add to their lead, with a two-spot in the second and a solo run in the third to make the score 8-0 after their third turn at bat.
The Ravens could not solve the Pacers' pitcher Emily Perruso, who shut out the Ravens on three hits. She struck out two and walked none.
Rosemont hits came off the bats of Zubrzycki, Lelie and Taylor Mohr.
The Ravens complete their season on the road tomorrow when they travel to Immaculata for a conference doubleheader starting at 1:00pm.
