DOVER, Del. – The Rosemont Ravens women's soccer team doubled their number of shots and shots-on-goal for the season in tonight's game at Wesley, but the shots didn't hit the net as Rosemont (0-4) was shut out by the Wolverines (2-0-2) by a score of 2-0.
The offense definitely showed signs of waking up tonight, with seven shots being put on goal. Two of Wesley's 10 shots on target were netted in the second half to account for the result.
The first half ended scoreless, as both teams combined for eight shots. The offensive opportunities opened up for both teams in the second half with 22 shots taken. The first goal came in the 49th minute when Wesley's Janiah Moore scored her 6th goal of the season to put the home side up 1-0. The score remained 1-0 until just 15 seconds were left in the contest when Wesley scored their second goal of the night.
Andrea Dossantos returned to goal, making three saves and shutting out Wesley in the first half.
Victoria Kasper led the Ravens with four shots, two on frame. Taylor Mohr was credited with three shots (two on goal). Madeline Polino's two shots were both on target, but saved by Chelsea Marriner, the Wolverines' keeper, who earned the shutout win.
The Ravens hope to turn their increased offensive momentum into some scores when they next take to the field on Tuesday, when they take the short trip to Eastern University for a 4:00pm non-conference game against the Eagles.
