PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – The Rosemont volleyball team came within a few whiskers of taking home their first win of the season, but they were defeated by the Patriots of the University of Valley Forge tonight by a score of 3-1 (17-25, 25-12, 27-25, 25-21).
Two of the final sets could have gone either way for the Ravens, but it was not to be tonight. The third set featured 14 tie scores and nine lead changes before the Patriots put away the set, 27-25, and that would be a key set for the home side to win.
Freshman Sabring Heggan continued setting at a record pace, credited with 28 assists tonight. Nadirah Anderson had 13 digs to lead the Ravens, while Maria Athanasiadis and Morgan Rollins each tallied eight digs. Athanasiadis also led the Ravens with four service aces and Anderson had three.
Both teams had 11 aces tonight, and the attack percentage of the teams were very close.
The Ravens next will face Penn State-Abington on the road on Thursday, 9/17. The non-conference match is scheduled for an 8:30pm start.
