Ravens Come Up Short Against Giants

ROSEMONT – The Rosemont women's soccer squad came up just on the short side of a 3-2 final today against the Keystone College Giants in a CSAC match-up. With the result the Ravens fell to 1-6 (1-1 CSAC) and Keystone moved to 2-4-1 (2-0 CSAC).

The Ravens fought hard, and scored the team's most goals in a game this season. The two teams traded goals starting with Keystone's Jenna Moranski to put the visitors up 1-0 in the 18th minute. The Ravens countered just 27 seconds later when Victoria Kasper struck on a kick from 20 yards out to even the score at 1-1. It was Kasper's first goal of the season.

In the 35th minute, Nisa Cortes took a cross from teammate Jenna Moranski to score her 2nd goal of the year to put Keystone back in front 2-1, which was the score going into halftime.

The Ravens again tied the score when Alexa Rhoads scored her first career goal when she kicked a beautiful arc over the Giant's keeper from about 20 yards out to again even the score, 2-2 in the 56th minute.

The teams would battle back and forth waiting for an opening. Unfortunately for the Ravens, the opening came for Moranski, who picked up the crumbs off of a rebound off of Rosemont keeper Andrea Dossantos to kick her second score of the day and ultimately the game-winning goal in the 68th minute.

The Ravens had several opportunities down the stretch, including a kick from Payton Kanagie in the 77th minute that eluded the Keystone keeper but hit the crossbar. Ultimately the Ravens couldn't find a way to score the equalizer and ended up a goal down as the final buzzer sounded.

The Ravens out-shot Keystone 15-12 in the game and had seven corner kicks against only one for the Giants. Victoria Kasper led the Ravens with four shots while Kanagie had three shots. Cheyenne Tumolo had two shots for the Ravens, both on frame.

The Ravens will have a week to plan for their next game, which will be against CSAC-rival Cairn University. The game against the Highlanders will be played at the Ravens Athletic Center on Wednesday, 9/30 starting at 7:00pm.
