ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Second-half goals by Eastern's JD Saracco in the 56th and 78th minutes accounted for all of the scoring in today's non-conference game as the Rosemont Ravens men's soccer squad (0-8-1) were defeated at 17th-ranked Eastern University (9-0-1) this afternoon by a score of 2-0.
Both of Eastern's goals came directly off of corner kicks, directly in front of goal. Throughout the contest the Ravens continued to play solid defense, but the Eagles controlled time of possession for most of the game. It was a credit to the Ravens' defense to keep Rosemont in this game to buy time for the Ravens to get their offense untracked.
The last line of defense, Rosemont keeper Zach Bowe made some tough stops on this rainy and dreary afternoon. Not shown in the statistics are stops by Bowe on defense to break up Eastern scoring opportunities, as Bowe was credited with eight saves on the afternoon.
Jelani James led the Ravens with two shots in the game.
Next up for the Ravens is a conference home match on Saturday against the Keystone Giants. Game time is scheduled for a 4:00pm start.
