How It Happened
Ravens started off hot in tonight's game, and refused to cool off against the Wolverines. Constant pressure by the Ravens offense and defense opened up a five-point lead with 2:18 left in the first quarter to end the quarter with a 23-13 lead.
Rosemont continued to apply pressure to Wesley in the second quarter, opening up the period on a 11-1 spurt to take a commanding 17-point lead with 5:36 left in the half. The Wolverines whittled the Ravens' lead down to eight points, 37-29 with 3:18 remaining, but Rosemont turned up the heat to grab back a 15-point bulge, 46-31 with just over a minute to play in the half. A Wesley steal with three seconds left on the clock and an ensuing trey from Wesley's Brittney Kerns ended the scoring for the half with Rosemont in front, 46-34.
Rosemont shot 55.9% from the field in the first half to dominate Wesley, who shot 32.5% from the field in the half. The Ravens scored 23 points in each of the first two quarters.
The Ravens would maintain their lead in double-digits for almost the entire third quarter, extending their lead to 15 points, 67-52 with 1:03 left in the quarter on a jumper by Carly Hislop.
The Ravens held to their 15-point lead in the final quarter, 72-57 with 8:52 left, but the Wolverines would not go away, and would chip at Rosemont to outscore the Ravens 11-3 to reduce the Ravens' lead down to seven points, 75-68 with 5:12 left in the game. A trey from Jasmyn Parker snapped the Wolverine rally and reinstated Rosemont's double-digit lead, 78-68. The Ravens would hold off the Wolverines to claim the victory down the stretch.
Ravens' Top Performers
Jasmyn Parker led the Ravens with a career-high 22 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field, 6-for-8 from beyond the arc. The six three-balls from Parker tied the program record for three-point buckets in a game, last accomplished by Maureen Christie against Medgar Evers on 12/1/2001
Leilani Naone-Carter grabbed 16 rebounds to set a new career high in that category
Nadirah Anderson shot 8-for-13 from the field to net a career-high 16 points
Brianna Macauley shot 6-for-8 from the field for 16 points. Teammate Carly Hislop scored 12 and had nine rebounds to just miss a double-double.
For the Wolverines
Brionna Johnson shot 8-for-14 to lead Wesley with 18 points. She also led the visitors under the glass with 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Alexus Stroud scored 15 and Monshea Newsume-Murry added 12 to account for the Wesley players reaching double-figures.
Stats of the Game
The 55.9% shooting from the field and 50% from downtown were Rosemont's most accurate shooting performances of the season. The Ravens didn't cool off much in the second half, shooting 50% overall from the field and from beyond the arc to end the game with a 53.1% shooting percentage (50% from downtown)
The 34 field goals tied the most in a game this season, and the eight three-pointers were the most scored by the team since 2/15/2014 vs. Centenary.
The Ravens out-rebounded Wesley on the defensive boards (31-22) but were on the short end in the offensive paint (19-12).
Rosemont had 23 assists compared to 16 for Wesley.
