How It Happened

On a sunny and windy Senior Day at the Ravens Athletic Complex, the women's soccer team looked celebrate a home victory. The opposition this afternoon the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins looked to ruin the Ravens big plans.

The first half saw the Ravens carry most of the play, but were unable to find the net. Rosemont outshot Gwynedd Mercy in the half 6-3.

In the second half, the two teams played stride for stride but still neither side could find a goal. The best chance came at the 87:59 mark when Rosemont would commit a foul inside of the 18-yard box resulting in a penalty kick. The Griffins Anna Numerato stepped up from 12 yards out looking to put Gwynedd Mercy ahead. However, on Senior Day it was Ravens Senior keeper Jenna Kaiser who knocked the shot wide preserving the 0-0 tie. The game then headed to overtime with a scoreless draw.

The first overtime saw neither team record a shot, and at the end of 100 minutes there was still no winner. Then in overtime period number two the game finally came to an end. As Victoria Kasper took a pass from Madeline Polino about 15 yards out and rocketed one past Griffins keeper Kailey Hopkins to give the Ravens a 1-0 victory.

·        Victoria Kasper led the team with five shots (one on goal) and had the game winning goal.
·        Melissa Lynch and Madeline Polino each recorded three shots (two on target).
·        Emily Johnston and Alexa Rhoads chipped in two shots apiece.
·        Senior keeper Jenna Kaiser made four saves, including a penalty kick stop.

For the Griffins
·        Anna Numerato led with four shots (one on goal) and attempted the penalty kick.
·        Samantha Brown added three shots (one on frame).
·        Five different players combined for nine shots.
·        Keeper Kailey Hopkins made seven saves.

Playoff Update
The Ravens are still alive, but with only one CSAC game remaining on Thursday they need help from both Keystone and Gwynedd Mercy to make the field of six.
