How It Happened

With Hurricane Matthew coming up the East Coast, it was almost as if the host Centenary Cyclones got energy from the approaching storm, out-dueling the Rosemont's women's soccer team 3-1 in the second half to take today's CSAC contest.

In a rematch of the two teams that met in last year's CSAC quarterfinal game, where the Ravens won at Centenary in an exciting comeback double-overtime 3-2 win, the Cyclones took control this time around.

Centenary's Jessie Sharr scored in the 22nd minute to put the home side up, 1-0, before Kara LaPolice made the score 2-0 in the 33rd minute, where the score would be at the end of the half.

The Ravens snapped back in the second half, when in the 58th minute, Cheyenne Tumolo would score on a cross from Victoria Kasper to pull the Ravens to within a goal, trailing 2-1.

Five minutes later, though, the Cyclones would respond with a goal by Amanda Benoit. With the Ravens working hard to try to get back within touch of Centenary, Benoit made it 4-1 in the 80th minute. Another Centenary goal 1:44 later ended the scoring for the afternoon.
