Ravens Fall In Scrappy Game With Giants

Rosemont Falls Behind Early, Battles Back But Cannot Overcome Keystone

ROSEMONT- The Rosemont College Women's basketball team lost their fourth straight game today as they fell to the visiting Keystone College Giants by a final of 64-53. The Ravens now run their record to 1-4 overall (0-2 CSAC) and the Giants improved to 3-5 overall (2-0 CSAC).

A layup by Shirle Brown 1:48 into the game, gave the Rosemont their first home basket of the season making the score 2-1. Keystone came right back with an 8-0 run putting them ahead 9-2 with 5:28 left in the quarter. The Giants outscored the Ravens 13-10 through the rest of the frame. The score would be 22-12 after one.

The second quarter saw things go back and forth for the first five minutes. Rosemont was not able to close the gap. A basket by Ayanna Thompson got the Ravens to within nine at 27-18. From there Keystone closed on an 8-2 run to take a 35-20 lead to the half.

In the third, Rosemont came out with a new energy and opened up on an 18-2 run. A three pointer from Jasmyn Parker with 3:45 to go gave the Ravens the lead at 38-37. Keystone however turned things right around scoring the next 10 out of 12 points to lead 47-40 after three.

The final stanza saw the Giants hold Rosemont at bay outscoring them 17-13 over the last 10 minutes. Keystone would leave Alumnae Hall with a 64-53 victory.

The Ravens were once again led by the freshman pair of Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter and Shirle Brown. Naone-Carter scored 13. Brown netted 12.

Rosemont got up 71 shots on the day compared to the Giants 48. The Ravens shot 4-26 from beyond the arc, Keystone was 3-10. Rosemont also did not go to the foul line very much, going 7-9 from the stripe, while the Giants went 25-34 from the charity line.

The Ravens will try to get back to winning ways on Tuesday night as they welcome in Delaware Valley University for a non-conference game. Tip is set for 7pm at Alumnae Hall.
