Ravens Lose to Valiants

How It Happened
  • The Ravens tried to conjure up the same comeback magic that they fashioned in their home opener, but although they were always in the game, they came up just short in the final quarter, losing to Manhattanville, 11-9. It was a spirited effort by the Ravens, but they couldn't match the three 4th period goals scored by the Valiants.
 
  • The Valiants scored the lone goal in the 1st quarter with 1:50 on the clock. Manhattanville continued their momentum to start the 2nd quarter, adding two more goals to put the visitors up 3-0 with 12:45 left in the half. The teams would trade the next four goals, with Stephen Licata putting the first goal on the board for the Ravens at the 12:02 mark. After another Valiant goal, Anthony Bottoms got the Ravens back to within two goals, trailing 4-2 with 9:13 on the clock. Trailing 5-2, Bottoms scored again with 3:42 on the clock, and Licata ended the scoring in the half with 0:21 remaining to get Rosemont to within a goal of the lead, trailing 5-4 at the half.
 
  • There were a total of seven goals scored between both sides in the third quarter, which saw the Ravens outscore the Valients 4-3 to tie the score. The scoring started with the teams alternating two goals each. Rosemont's goals came from Bottoms and Rasool Smith, putting the Ravens within a goal at 7-6 with 9:17 left in the quarter. Ben Koszelak followed with a goal with 7:48 left in the quarter to make the scores level at 7-7. Manhattanville's Andrew Murray would score on an unassisted goal with 3:29 on the clock, and just under a minute later Stephen Licata would score on a pass from Malik Slye to re-tie the game with 2:30 to go in the quarter. The teams ended the frame tied 9-9.
 
  • Manhattanville took control and held the Ravens off the board in the earlier part of the last quarter as Tyler Bentrewicz found the net twice to put the Ravens behind 10-8. Zach Bowe answered with a goal for Rosemont on an assist from Bottoms to get back to within one goal, trailing 10-9, but the final goals of the game came from the Valiants' Murray would end the scoring and for Manhattanville to claim the win.

  • Anthony Bottoms scored three goals with three assists for six points.
  • Stephen Licata scored four points on three goals and an assist.
  • Kiefer Paul had solid game in goal, saving half of the Valiant's shots on goal (11 of 22) to keep the Ravens close all afternoon.

  • Andrew Murray scored four goals with an assist for five points.
  • Tyler Bentrewicz and Ed Motherway each scored twice.
  • Goalkeeper Zach Hoffman earned the win, saving 13 shots on 22 Ravens shots on goal.
