Comeback Attempt Falls Short at Moravian

Greyhounds Run Away from Ravens in 4th Quarter

The Basics

  • Ravens were behind 4-0 before scoring the next four goals to tie the game, but Moravian would pull away late in the 2nd half

How It Happened
  • The Moravian Greyhounds were effective in opening up a lead in the first quarter, scoring four times in the game's first 11:20 to put the Ravens in a 4-0 hole. In the waning moments of the quarter, Rosemont's Zach Bowe would score a momentum-changing goal with 0:27 on the clock to make the score 4-1 in favor of Moravian at quarter time.

  • Rosemont would continue to apply offensive pressure in the second quarter while keeping the Greyhounds off the scoreboard. A Tyler Ferrara goal (assist from Ralph Ibezim) would be the Raven's second, just 47 seconds into the quarter. Rasool Smith would make it three in a row for the visiting Ravens with 9:47 remaining in the half to pull Rosemont to within 4-3, in a low-scoring second quarter.
 
  • Rosemont kept their momentum going after halftime, striking first on a goal from Ralph Ibezim with 1:21 played in the 3rd quarter and the Ravens knotting the score at 4-4. Moravian answered with a goal to take a 5-4 lead just 1:03 later. Neither team would score for the next eight minutes until the Greyhounds struck again with 4:24 on the clock to regain a two-goal lead, 6-4. The Ravens would again strike back quickly when Tyler Ferrara scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Zach Bowe with a man down just 20 seconds later to get back to within one goal of Moravian, trailing 6-5.
 
  • The Greyhounds would start to get separation from the Ravens by scoring four straight goals in the 4th quarter, leading to a 10-5 lead with 3:22 remaining in the game. Rosemont answered with its final goal of the afternoon, coming off the crosse of Zach Bowe, making the score 10-6 just 18 seconds later. Moravian would tack on a final goal nine seconds later to make the score 11-6 with 2:55 left in the contest.
 
Ravens' Top Performers
  • Zach Bowe's two goals and an assist led the Ravens with three points on the afternoon. He led the Ravens with seven ground balls and won 8-of-14 faceoffs.
  • Tyler Ferrara scored two goals from his three shots on goal.
  • Rasool Smith scored a goal and had three ground balls and two caused turnovers for the afternoon.
  • Anthony Bottoms had three ground balls.
  • Kiefer Paul made 10 saves on 21 Moravian shots on goal and was credited with three ground balls.
For the Greyhounds
  • David Fiumara led the Greyhounds with three goals scored.
  • Moravian had four different players score two goals today, led by Chris Klowdowski, who scored the winning goal for the home side.
  • James Carroll, Dominick Gurreri, and Alec Oriolo all scored twice for Moravian.
  • John Polich led the Greyhounds with five ground balls. Hayden DuPont and Ed Delia each were credited with four ground balls.
  • Goalkeeper Kurt Dick earned the win, making 11 saves on 17 Raven shots on goal.

After three quick early-season games the Ravens will have a bit of a rest for Spring Break with Rosemont's next game scheduled for Wednesday, 3/9 at FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 7:00pm start.
