Ravens Fight Back But Fall Short vs. Bard

Costly Four Goal Shortfall in First Half

The Basics
  • Final Score: Bard 12, Rosemont 8
  • Records: Rosemont 1-4, Bard 2-1
  • The visiting Bard Raptors ran out to a 6-2 halftime lead and fended off a strong 3rd quarter by the Ravens to earn the win.
  • Location: Rosemont, Pa. – Ravens Athletic Complex

How It Happened
The first half scoring started when Bard put the ball in the net after 4:18 played, followed by another Bard goal with 7:20 on the clock to put the visitors in front 2-0. Four minutes later, Ralph Ibezim would net his 10th goal of the season on an assist from Anthony Bottoms to cut the Rosemont deficit in half. The quarter would end with Rosemont trailing 2-1.

Bard put three straight goals on the board in the first 2 ½ minutes of the 2nd quarter to open up the lead to 5-1. All three goals scored were on extra-man opportunities. Rosemont's Rasool Smith would right the Rosemont ship with 12:00 left in the quarter to make the score 5-2. Another 8:20 would elapse before Bard would make the score 6-2, and that was the score at halftime.

Ralph Ibezim scored again from Anthony Bottoms with 0:29 elapsed in the third quarter to cut the Rosemont deficit to three goals, 6-3, but Bard would score two more straight goals, the second with an extra man on the field to up the Raptor's lead to 8-3 with 9:21 left in the quarter. The Ravens summoned a timely comeback, however, starting with Justin Miller's first goal of the season a minute later. 3:41 later, Stephen Licata would score his 8th of the year, and he would follow that with his 9th goal of the season with 0:31 on the clock to rally the Ravens back to within two goals, trailing 8-6 going into the final term.

Although Licata would score to trade goals with Bard, unfortunately for the home side, Bard would score three of the final four goals of the game (Rasool Smith was the final goal-scorer for the Ravens this afternoon) to take the 12-8 final.
