How It Happened
The visiting Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy University would jump on the scoreboard early in today's game, scoring their first goal after 1 ½ minutes of play, and putting the first three goals on the board with 5:40 played to put the Ravens behind from the get-go. Rosemont responded with three straight goals to tie the score at 3-3. The comeback began with a goal from Victoria Kasper with 23:18 on the clock. Only 11 seconds later, Jennifer South would score her first of the day. 2:17 later, South would score again to knot the score with 20:50 on the clock.
Â
The Griffins answered Rosemont's momentum and three-goal rally with a rally of their own, scoring the final five goals of the first half to take an 8-3 at the break.
Â
Gina Ragona showed that Rosemont still had another comeback in mind, scoring her 4th goal of the season to get Rosemont to within four goals, trailing 8-4. The teams traded goals with Jen South scoring her 3rd of the afternoon to keep Rosemont within four goals, trailing 9-5 with 20 minutes left in the game.
Â
The Griffins would put the game away over the next nine minutes, shutting out the Ravens 4-0 during that stretch to put the game out of Rosemont's reach and taking a 13-5 lead with 11 minutes left in the game. Rosemont's final goal was Madeline Polino's second of the season, assisted by Alexa Rhoads' assist pass from behind the net.
