How It Happened

Game 1

The Rosemont bats started connecting in a big way early in the game. After rookie pitcher Charlie Fillmore struck out the Eagles in order in the top of the first, the Ravens put a four-spot on the board in their half of the inning. Big hits came from Brianna Macauley, who singled to right for 2 RBI, knocking home Bailey Schulte and Dani Lelie. A Magggie Miller single to center scored Macauley, and Lora Zubrzycki ground into an error to score Maurer.

The home side scratched out another run in the bottom of the 2nd when Brianna Macauley reached on an error, scoring Schulte to stake Rosemont to a 5-0 lead.

The Eagles hit the scoreboard in their half of the 4th inning on a two-out single to right from Kayla Gonzalez. With Rosemont ahead 5-1, CSE put up five runs in the top of the 5th to gain their first lead, 6-5. The Eagles would add three more in the 6th inning to forge ahead 9-5, but the Ravens would inch closer in their half of the 6th when Charlie Fillmore scored on an RBI double from Brianna Macauley to make the score 9-6.

Both teams scored a run in the 7th. Rosemont's run came on a St. Elizabeth error, scoring Kaitlin Fracchiolla to end the scoring for the game.

Game 2

The bats for the Eagles stayed hot to start the 2nd game of today's doubleheader, with St. Elizabeth putting up five runs in the top of the first and two more in the 2nd inning, as the Eagles grabbed a quick 7-0 lead. The Ravens responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Maggie Miller scored on an Eagles error on a ball hit from Maria Athanasiadis. Already leading 7-1 after two innings, CSE were not through, adding three more runs in the 3rd and four runs in the 4th to account for the final score.

Though the Ravens were outscored 14-1, they recorded six hits in the game.
