Licata Scores Four, But Ravens Lose CSAC Opener at Centenary

Rosemont outscored Cyclones 6-2 in 4th quarter

How It Happened

Trailing 2-0 after the first three minutes of play, Stephen Licata would score on an assist from teammate Zach Bowe on an extra man opportunity to get the Ravens to with a goal, trailing 2-1 with 9:56 on the clock.

 

That would be the closest the Ravens would get to the Cyclones for the rest of the contest, however. Centenary ended the quarter with a 3-1 lead, and added a 4-0 advantage in the 2nd quarter to take a 7-1 lead going into the half.

 

Centenary kept their string of goals going, scoring five straight to open the 3rd stanza to grab a 12-1 lead with 0:49 remaining in the quarter. Stephen Licata would find the net with five seconds left in the quarter, ending Centenary's string of 10 straight goals as the score had Rosemont trailing 12-2 going into the final quarter.

 

The Ravens gave up a goal to start the 4th quarter, but after that, they got their offense untracked. Zach Bowe netted a goal with 10:18 on the clock, followed by a goal by Justin Miller with an assist from Anthony Bottoms with 8:24 remaining. After a Centenary goal, the Ravens finished off the game scoring four straight times. The first on an extra-man goal from Zach Bowe off of a pass from Ralph Ibezim, followed by Licata's third of the game, a goal from Malik Slye from Bottoms, and finally Licata's 4th of the game from Zach Bowe.

 

Ravens' Top Performers

·         Stephen Licata netted four goals. He had three ground balls.

·         Zach Bowe had two goals and was credited with two assists for four points. He had 20 ground balls, winning 20 of 24 faceoffs against the Cyclones.

·         Malik Slye and Justin Miller each tallied a solo.

For the Cyclones

·         Centenary had three players with hat tricks. Trevor Krupinski and Joey DeBiasse each had three goals with two assists for five points. Nolan Gottshall scored three times with an assist for four points. Gotshall also led the Cnclones with six ground balls.

·         Denzel Thompson scored twice with an assist for three points.

·         Michael Balsamo had two goals.

·         Goalie Kevin Switzer saved 10 Ravens shots, allowing four in the first 53:40 of the game to earn the win.
